Via Ferrata of the Sioule gorges
Sioule Loisirs
Description

The Via Ferrata (protected climing route) of the Sioule gorges was designed to popularize the climbing experience as much as possible. It is equipped with a continuous lifeline for optimal safety, no falling possible.
It breaks down into 2 parts:
- The 1st part is ideal for beginners. The route is 225 m long and takes 1 hour / 1 hour 30 minutes. At the end of this 1st part, participants can either leave the route via the escape route to reach the summit and enjoy the view, or they continue on to the second part.
- The 2nd part is classified AD - therefore simply requires mastering the basics of the activity.
It is characterized by 2 footbridges of 30 m overhanging the Sioule, the 225 m are carried out in approximately 1 hour.
The entire Via Ferrata is carried out between 2H00 / 2H30 for 130 m of elevation. It ends at the viewing point which offers a magnificent view of the Sioule gorges.

Sustainable tourism

Via ferrata of the Sioule gorges, keen to respect its environment as much as possible, is closed in winter to preserve the habitat and nesting of the eagle owl.
The opening of the via varies depending on the presence and nesting of the eagle owl on the site. Authorization to open is given by the LPO, this must be one of the rare via ferrata which has this mode of operation. Animal and environmental respect is prioritized over the economic aspect.
We meet people at Sioule Loisirs to collect the equipment and we recommend going to the entrance to the via on foot (2km) to limit the carbon impact.
Our regulations require you to have a backpack to carry out the via in the aim of the zero waste policy on the site.
The via is in a continuous line (unhooking impossible for safety) which also means that you cannot move around the contours of the via, no trampling on the surroundings of the via therefore preservation of the fauna and flora.
