Tindersticks

Just over thirty years of existence, thirty years of excellence and elegance: it's an honor to welcome the most distinguished of British bands to the Opéra, with a new album, Soft Tissue, following No Treasure but Hope (2019), one of the countless instant classics in their discography.
Masters in the art of setting spleen to music, experts in twilight ambiences where electric flashes regularly rip through the muffled substance, Tindersticks always manage to strike a chord with an appalling class, stripped of all flash and glitz.
Inspired by the silky folk intimacy of Leonard Cohen, the panoramic visions of Ennio Morricone or John Barry, or the great funeral strains of Nick Cave, their songs hit the nail on the head with an attention to detail that changes and sublimates everything. A handful of guitar notes, vibrantly refined orchestrations, light touches of piano and, above all, the magnetic focal point of Stuart Staples' increasingly sepulchral voice, are enough to create melancholy masterpieces, somewhere between baroque pop and chiaroscuro rock. On stage, their music takes on all its power, revealing impassioned versions of their compositions: they will undoubtedly be at home in the Grande Salle de l'Opéra.
Stuart Staples - vocals, guitar, Neil Fraser - guitar, David Boulter - various instruments, Dan McKinna - bass, Earl Harvin - drums.
