The trades of yesteryear in tales and legends
Savoie ()
This outing links the tales and legends of our local heritage with the discovery of the trades and skills of the Massif des Bauges.
9:30 am: Welcome at Saint-François-De-Sales. Class split into 3 groups.
The first group will discover the village, where we'll get to know the washhouse, the bread oven, the balconies and the Baujue house, as well as the different species of trees, how to read the landscape, the flora and its scents...
The second group leaves with Audrey, the potter who has been offering modeling workshops for children and adults for the past ten years. Our visit will focus on touching, shaping and creating a nature-themed figurine from clay and plants. If the pottery activity is not available, it will be replaced by a weaving activity with Sylvie (wool workshop, carding and making a woollen figurine for the children to take home).
The third group goes to Jean-Paul, woodturner. You'll see how Bauges silver was once made, and how a simple piece of wood could be used to create a useful object. His demonstration and the tour of his workshop will leave a lasting impression, as will the smell of wood and the past.
10:30 am: Reversal of groups.
12pm: Packed lunch in a park or in a shelter with toilets in case of bad weather, while listening to tales and legends.
1:30 pm: Workshops resume, groups reversed.
3:30 p.m.: Tyrolean packed lunch with storytelling and return to the bus.
3:45pm: Debriefing and departure.
