The Château de Montfleury
Avressieux
The Château de Montfleury is located between Saint-Genix-Sur-Guiers and Pont-de-Beauvoisin and is composed of a thirteen-century Saracen tower. As you go into the castle courtyard, you can feel the eyes of its gargoyles looking at you.
Inside, you will discover 4000 years of History through military archeology. You will see by yourself the impressive collections in the guardroom, the edged weapons room and the artillery. Some of these items are very rare, such as a bronze Celtic helmet from the 5th or 4th century BC.
During your visit, you will go into rooms which have been restored and furnished with period furniture: the kitchen, Alberthe de Rubempré's room and the room of the owner of the castle.
It will be a visit full of surprises since you will next jump into a century of means of transportation. Velocipedes from 1820 to 1920 have been collected by the actual owner of the castle.
Finally, the visit will end up with old agricultural tools in the castle's outbuilding. These tools will amaze the youngest while the oldest will be reminded of a not-so-far past.
