Saint John's Cathedral
Cure : place Saint-Jean
The cathedral of Lyon is an iconic monument of the city as well as a medieval artistic masterpiece. Built from the 12th to the 15th century, it is a witness of History. Indeed, two consecutive Coucils took place here during the 13th century and many people have been welcomed : popes, kings, emperors and many other celebrities.
Even though the cathedral suffered from damage during religious wars and the French Revolution, restorations have been conducted and made the bulding look a splendid as it did before. Nowadays, it is particulary luminous thanks to its bright stones and its high windows. It enables everyone to enjoy the well-adjusted dimensions of the bulding and, of course, its a artistic works of art : paintings, sculptures, furniture, organs, stained-glass windows....
