Positioning, reading map and hiking

Hiking in the mountains is a very pleasant activity, wonderful in so many ways that it will enchant your vacation memories.

But the mountains are also a place where improvisation has no place: the weather is changeable, conditions are harsh, and a mistake in direction can turn a beautiful hike into a nightmare whose consequences can quickly turn tragic.

Knowing your bearings, using a compass, a GPS, an altimeter and reading a map are all basic skills you'll need if you want to set out on your own in summer or winter.

It allows you to choose your itinerary according to your abilities and those of your companions, to anticipate the terrain you may encounter and make the right choices at the right time, which is often life-saving and makes it easier to manage your end-of-hike schedule, and to cultivate good memories.

During these two hours, you'll learn the basics and put them into practice in a fun way.

We'll look at a few precautionary principles to be observed when preparing and carrying out a mountain hike.
