Route de la Colombière

Description

Special recommendation: very busy trail during school holidays. Damaged and slippery trail, not to do after the rain.

Itinerary:
The start is near the Col de la Colombière chalet-restaurant. Follow the marked Lac de Peyre path (1h40) and leave the other path to the Jalouvre on the left.

After thirty minutes of walking, you arrive at the chalets of La Colombière. The path winds in a zig-zag and becomes steeper up to a grassy patch. The lake is not far away, nestled in a hollow, surrounded by Pointe Blanche and Pointe du Midi. The view of the Mont-Blanc range is magnificent. The emblematic bird, the vulture, likes to fly over the lake during hikers' lunch.
The descent is by the same path as the outward journey.

- Col de Balafrasse: 40 minutes (one way)

From 01/06 to 15/11.
The opening periods vary depending on the opening of the col de la Colombière departmental road, which is closed throughout the winter season.
Road closure depending on weather conditions.
