Le Grand Barnum
Francheville
A cultural experience, as Le Grand Barnum is a gallery hotel with a permanent exhibition of outsider art in the corridors.
Discover the unique setting of this hotel, located on the top floor of the "Les Grandes Voisines" social and community centre in Francheville. Each room is uniquely decorated, with panoramic wallpapers and antique furniture.
The approach is eco-responsible, as all the furniture (except the bedding) has been reused and renovated in their integration workshops, which employ and support people who are far from employment.
Le Grand Barnum is also part of an eco-responsible approach through the practices implemented in the hotel:
- Local suppliers and service providers: the products served at breakfast come from local producers (the coffee, for example, comes from LOUTSA, a Lyon-based coffee roaster), the service providers are also local (the laundry is done on site via their integration workshop, the website is hosted on servers in Grenoble), the reception products are environmentally friendly.
- Waste sorting, low-energy light bulbs, etc.
The approach is also one of solidarity, as the hotel is a social integration enterprise enabling people in social or professional difficulty to be trained in the hotel trade. It is the second hotel of its kind in France.
This new activity of the Salvation Army Foundation has created 6 full-time jobs on integration contracts. The aim is to diversify the range of professional activities to encourage people to find sustainable employment in jobs that are in short supply in the area.
The hotel offers 14 Standard double rooms with 140 cm beds, 10 Superior double rooms with 160 cm beds, 1 eco double room with shared bathroom and 2 dormitories with 4 and 5 beds.
All year round.
