La Traie, a site of outstanding natural beauty
Méribel - Les Allues
La Traie Alpine pastureland is a part of the Vanoise Massif in Savoie. It lies at 1,650m altitude, above the village of Les Allues, the administrative centre of the Méribel Valley. It offers a natural site which is ideal for open air activities such as hiking or ski touring in winter, and the atmosphere of a secret and well-preserved corner of the mountains, far from the bustle of the ski resorts.
This special place is accessible on foot, or by off-piste skiing, ski touring or snowshoeing, according to the season. A number of varied footpaths and itineraries run through the area, and these paths are accessible to all, including families. There are magnificent views over the nearby villages and some of the most beautiful peaks in the region, such as la Grande Casse, le Grand Bec and le Mont-Blanc.
You can either set out for the day to explore the area (leave three to six hours, depending on which route you take, either on a circular walk or a there-and-back walk) or you can enjoy the unique experience of spending the night in a luxurious mountain refuge.
Two establishments on site offer accommodation and meals with high-end services.
