La Sucrière
Quartier Confluence
It has now been completely renovated but has retained its industrial character and is fast becoming the figurehead of Lyon's new Confluence district, a former labouring district that now houses the head offices of leading communication companies and various organisations, trendy restaurants, fun bars, art galleries and designer stores.
With 6,500 m² entrusted to the GL Events group, including 3,800 m² devoted to event spaces, 1,700 m² to art and culture and a bar/club, La Sucrière aims to become a site that combines culture, creation, communication and conviviality, giving it unique character, in the same vein as similar sites in large European capitals such as London, Madrid and Berlin.
La Sucrière will host exhibitions, shows, corporate events, trade fairs and gala dinners, bringing together guests and participants from all over the world.
Built in the 1930s along the river Saône, this 80-year old former warehouse has just been given a new lease of life in hosting Lyon's Biennial Contemporary Art festival (one of the biggest in Europe) and other shows as the Nuits Sonores.
Admission to the temporary exhibitions taking place there is free with the Lyon City Card, apart from a few exceptions.
