History of the Resistance

Description

Introduce your pupils to the Plateau des Glières, a key site for the Resistance during the Second World War. Experience life-size history, follow the path of the Resistance fighters, and retrace these powerful moments with them. Take the opportunity to introduce them to the mountain environment through a variety of activities.

Using a thematic trail, your pupils will discover the Plateau des Glières, home to the National Resistance Monument, and follow the path of the Resistance fighters.
On the Morette site, they'll visit the Musée départemental de la Résistance, the Mémorial de la Déportation and the Nécropole nationale des Glières. Work in conjunction with the Haute-Savoie departmental archives.

Our visit project is in line with school curricula:
- Understand the scale of the Second World War conflict.
- See how, in France, republican values were abolished under the blows of a totalitarian state.
- Understand collaboration, propaganda and the workings of the Vichy regime.
- Address the Jewish question and the notions of exclusion, repression, persecution and deportation.
- Understand the role of Free France and the Resistance.
- Understand the mechanisms of liberation and the advent of the European Union.
