Hiking: Dent de Verreu

Description

Cross Le Mont hamlet and, at the far end, take the path that goes up through the forest in a succession of hairpin bends. You'll cross a few clearings dotted with chalets. After a few bends, if the weather is clear, you can see the top of Mont Blanc proudly emerging to the left of the Pointe de Sales. At Les Praz du Mont farm, the track narrows into a pleasant litte forest path. It then continues beyond the woods and up a wide grassy slope. Stay on the path until you reach the summit of Dent de Verreu where, all of a sudden, you'll feast your eyes on the panoramic view of some of the most emblematic peaks of Sixt: Ruan, Tenneverge, Grenier de Commune, Pointe de Sales and Pointe de Sambet. You can also see part of the Mont Blanc massif, as well as the mountains of Bargy and Roc d'Enfer, to the north west of the Giffre valley.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

1/ From the Parking du Mont, follow the signs for "Dent de Verreu", passing through "Le Mont (hameau)", "Les Achenives" and "Les Passes du Croz".
2/ At the Dent de Verreu, follow the same route back to the Parking du Mont.
