Ferme du Tiret
Foissiat
La Ferme du Tiret was taken over in 2021 after 10 years of inacupation. Partly listed as a historic monument for its Saracen chimney (depicted on the village coat of arms) and remarkable for its bread oven building surrounded by its pig pens with stone base (rare in Bresse), this heritage is being restored thanks to the development of new activities that are giving a new lease of life to this sleepy estate.
* Edible insects are the historic activity (since 2015) of the entrepreneurial couple who run the estate. Worms are bred right on the farm with organic grain bran from the village mill! Crickets and locusts are cooked in the farm's kitchens to accompany them!
* The farm also works with original plants such as nettle (grown on the farm) and bear's garlic (collected in the Revermont region, in the foothills of the Jura, opposite the farm). Pestos, flavored salt, pasta - there's something for everyone. The luffa squash provides shade for the plantations in summer, and natural, exfoliating shower flowers in autumn!
* The Piment de Bresse is an ancient vegetable that had almost disappeared from its native territory, which gave it its name. Saved by a few private individuals and the actions of the Musée du Revermont, it has now risen from the ashes. La Ferme is one of the producers who are reviving this production in Bresse. It's here that Bressico (a hot Bresse pepper sauce) is produced.
And if all that doesn't satisfy your appetite, the Ferme du Tiret is home to the Comptoir d'Arménie, which creates a link with this small Caucasian country and offers typical products (food and wine) from this two-thousand-year-old civilization.
Ferme du Tiret is a real link between heritage and innovation, between local and international territorial roots, to bring the Bresse identity into the 21st century!
