Concert baroque "Exaltez Bach !"

Description

Jean-Sébastien Bach, auteur des plus belles pages de l’oratorio, a laissé de nombreuses cantates selon la forme habituelle Sinfonia - Choeur - Arias et récitatifs - Choral. Mais voilà qu’un jour de 1730, il crée à Leipzig une Cantate pour soprano solo et trompette particulièrement brillante et lyrique, bien loin de la sobriété de ses premières Cantates. Classé BWV51, ce trésor musical est d’une grande virtuosité, aussi bien pour la soprano que pour le trompettiste. Cette Cantate est dite «in ogni tempo», faite pour être jouée toute l’année : une aubaine pour l’Ensemble Baroque de Toulouse !
Que rêver de mieux que le Concerto pour traverso et flûte à bec de Telemann, qui fréquentait la maison Bach à Leipzig, pour compléter ce programme festif ?

As you will have gathered, this fabulous concert is taking place in the beautiful church of Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce. It's a rich venue, now one of the must-see sites in Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc, where the importance of sacred art and architecture in the panorama of Alpine culture endures.

Don't ask yourself who built it. It was so long ago that she can't remember. We do know that it was built by an Italian, under the direction of the priest Claude-Etienne Colliex, and that it owes the funds required for its construction to emigrant natives. Renowned as one of the most beautiful churches in Savoie, its facade, with its monumental portal and elements in relief or trompe-l'œil, is not its only seductive feature. Behind its bold architecture lies an interior that gives the word magnificence its full meaning, with its vaults painted the famous blue of Saint Nicolas, its five altarpieces and its high altarpiece created around 1698-1702 by Jacques Clairant, not forgetting Antoine Herzog's central painting, The Glory of Saint Nicolas, painted in Vienna in 1733. You won't be able to resist its baroque charm. And if it doesn't make you a devotee, it will leave you with an unforgettable impression.
