Château
Yvoire
From 1308 onwards, the Count set about fortifying Yvoire to prevent attacks by the lords of Faucigny. It was at this time that the castle was built and ramparts erected around the village. Work lasted from 1308 to 1318. The edifice was erected at the end of a point of land, facing the lake, so that the enemy could be seen coming from all sides. Today, the former entrance door on the second floor is clearly visible on the façade.
Owners of the property since 1655, the Bouvier family undertook major restoration work (from 1919 to 1939), including the roof, which had fallen victim to attacks by the Bernese in the 15th century.
