Between meadows and forests, a story of biodiversity
Le Châtelard
History has seen the prairie and the forest evolve; each has had its moments of domination over the other, then of retreat.
A day to get to know these two environments, the flora that makes them up, the fauna that inhabits them, their differences, their complementarity.
A day to consider the place and role of man in this duality.
9:30 am: Welcome at Doucy-En-Bauges. Class split into 2 groups.
Group 1: Looking from afar
- Let's read the story the landscape tells us. Observing the location of meadows and forests, we learn about the role played by man, the "creator" of meadows, as the instigator of this duality.
- The focus then shifts to man's relationship with his environment: What does the forest provide? The meadow? What activities can he practice in each of these environments? Could he do without any of them?
Group 2: A closer look
- The "meadows" and "forests" teams each observe their respective environment (plants, insects, etc.) before comparing it with the other to identify their particularities and what differentiates them.
- Afterwards, the teams come together to define an ecosystem.
- Using questions and games, explore the possible consequences for nature of the "disappearance" of one of these environments, and highlight how they complement each other.
12pm: Packed lunch.
1pm: Resumption of activities, with groups 1 and 2 reversed.
3:30pm: Snack and conclusion of the day.
4pm: Departure.
