Bessans

Exceptionally located on a vast sunny plateau, with snow from November to April, Bessans, a village surrounded by glaciers and peaks of over 3000 meters, has become, in France and internationally, one of the unavoidable references for cross-country skiing and biathlon.
The only profitable Nordic site in France, thanks in particular to its complementarity with Val Cenis and the other resorts in the area, Bessans dreams of Obertilliach, a village in the Austrian Tyrol, which is comparable in terms of Nordic facilities and a model in terms of hotels and charming accommodations.
Summer and winter alike, Bessans is another world where another language is spoken, where the key words are mountaineering, running, climbing school, refuges, ice climbing, canyoning, via ferrata, hiking and ski touring...A fascinating world but so well connected, since it is only 40 minutes away from the highway and even less, by free shuttle, from the alpine resorts which surround it.
Bessans is a natural reserve of authenticity, naturalness, oxygen, energy... The hamlets, the pastoral life, the swimming in the lakes, the baroque heritage, the sports teams in preparation, the simplicity of the local people, everything contributes to the development of active or contemplative stays which blossom body and soul, reinforce the links with nature, transmit durable values and bring tonicity!
We are proud of our Nordic roots, nourished by tales and legends, traditions and specialties. We want to maintain it, enhance it, share it, make it more attractive and accessible, show its necessity and modernity.
