Base de départ du Vernet pour les activités de pleine nature

On site, nature sports enthusiasts have access to changing rooms equipped with lockers, showers and WCs. There is also a bike-washing area outside. Accessible by reservation 72 hours in advance, the three departure bases are easy to reach and simple to use. Sports enthusiasts fill in a form on the Vichy Communauté website (in the outdoor activities section) and receive a code by SMS to access the changing rooms. The code is valid only on the day of booking.

Le Vernet is a strategic location linking the Val d'Allier to the Montagne Bourbonnaise.
Its base for outdoor activities, located between the school and the old stadium, offers :
- 4 mountain bike trails (n°80, 81, 82, 83)
- 1 trail (n°14)
- 2 hiking trails (PR35, PR36) + passage of the GR463 and Via Sancti-Martini trails
- 3 orienteering courses, including 2 heritage orienteering courses to discover the orchards and the Hurlevents site, and 1 Rand'orientation course, a more challenging course.
The premises include a mixed changing room with 1 shower, 1 washbasin, 1 WC, as well as benches and lockers.

The Le Vernet base is part of the "Espace VTT Destination Grand Air", which is the largest FFC-certified mountain-biking area in France, including :

- Espace VTT Vichy Montagne Bourbonnaise,
- Espace VTT Massif des Bois Noirs,
- Espace VTT Ambert-Crêtes du Forez.
- Espace VTT Montagne et Plaine en Roannais

All courses are FFC-certified.
