The village is situated on a tongue of schist in the relief and dominates an ancient glacial valley on both sides. It is surrounded by a fortified enclosure called The Fort, the gate of which still remains. The route overlooks and skirts the glacial basin of Leynhac, a rare phenomenon in the Châtaigneraie.
