Château de Bernis

With one look at the map of the village you can see the extent of the castle and the parc. A vast terrace towards the south reveals a splendid landscape. Without any doubt the site, the arrangements of the building and the parc are considerably influenced by that landscape. It was constructed at the end of the 17th century and at the beginning of the 18th century.
In less than a century, the family de Bernis obtained an entire area in the south of the community, around the core of the residence of the family de Blou-Laval.

The castle has been destroyed and rebuilt. Today its style is classical. The central part has a triangular pediment and is flanked by two symmetrical wings. In the north an enclosed court leads you trough a large gate towards the place du Monuments aux Morts (the former Placette). There remains only one of the two adjacent pavilions.
Towards south a big terrace overlooks the parc and the valley…

It’s one of the rare castles built intra-muros. Private castle.
