The VVF Grande Odyssée was born of a dream of great adventures across our mountains. Yet for decades, this sport was traditionally enjoyed on relatively flat, frozen stretches. Straight out of the imagination of Nicolas Vanier and Henry Kam, the dream became reality in January 2005 on the occasion of the very first VVF Grande Odyssée race.
The physically challenging 400 km route with an elevation range of 12,000 metres attracts some 65 of the world's top mushers from 8 different nations. Men and women compete against one another in a single race, for the same rankings and with the same passion.
