Operation Queen of the Alps (9')
The Lauzanier valley, in the Mercantour National Park, is home to the southernmost plants in the Alps. 40 years ago, the Reine des Alpes (Eryngium alpinum), the region's emblematic flower, almost disappeared. A full-scale scientific program has been set up to study its dynamics within the alpine pastures; to enable dialogue between shepherds, rangers and owners; and to ensure its preservation.

How do vultures soar? How do they spot updrafts? In groups, how do they interact during flight? These are just some of the questions that ecologists have tried to answer... by studying the world's best paragliders! And what if this study made it possible to match the flight performance of birds of prey in paragliding?

Peat bogs have always fascinated, even worried, as if this shifting terrain suspended above the water hid treasures beneath its sphagnum moss. It's a world of legends that holds the memory of millennia past, and reminds us more of the Scandinavian mountains than the Alps. When we go to the Tourbière des Saisies, it's as if we're changing space-time.
