A statue of the Virgin Mary nestled in an old oak tree in the woods of Charmandray aroused fervor and led to the construction of the first oratory under the name of Notre-Dame-du-Pompt-Secours around 1730. Destroyed during the French Revolution and altered several times, the building was rebuilt and enlarged in 1874. The interior has just been restored, with stained glass windows and wall paintings. A wonderful opportunity to gain a better understanding of an embellished building in its bucolic setting. Afterwards, under the pilgrims' shelter, enjoy a Bresse waffle and refreshments.
